Doing Open Science in a Research-Based Seminar: Students’ Positioning Towards Openness in Higher Education

This study investigates undergraduate students’ attitudes towards and experiences with open education practices (OEP) in a research-based linguistics seminar. Data was collected through written assignments which two groups of students subsequent terms were surveyed on their willingness to publish (a) academic posters access (OA); (b) teaching concepts as educational resources (OER); (c) personal reflections the research process OA. Through qualitative data analysis, we examine apprehensions motivations artifacts. We find that key motivators are sense belonging, reward, an active contribution culture collaboration, whereas grounded concerns about quality work, uncertainties licensing, fear vulnerability visibility. show science OEP can be combined synergistically process-oriented, research-based, collaborative seminar concepts, formulate recommendations for lecturers how successfully address classroom.
